Pre-Grown (Ages 8-12) Pre-Diva (Ages 13-17) Seasons (Ages 18 - and up)
Beginners/Intermediate Ballet
Students will learn basic technique and skills including phrases and combinations commonly used in ballet. Students will also engage in increasing flexibility and stretching exercises that will provide the strength needed to perform ballet.
Advanced Ballet
Prior experience required. Students will learn more advanced techniques and phrases including learning combination from well known balletic works that will be presented in the annual concert. Students will also explore choreography technique as it applies to the dance form.
Beginners/Intermediate Modern Dance
Students will be introduced to basic/moderate technique in modern dance. Such technique includes Dunham, Horton, Graham and many other styles. Students will also learn to explore musical forms and how it relates to the dance form.
Advanced Modern Dance
Prior experience is required. Students explore advanced technique and combinations related to the dance form. Students will also explore rhythm and movement to create choreography that will be presented in the annual concert.
Beginners Jazz
Students are taught basic movements in jazz dance. This will also include basic tap movement and technique. Students are also introduced to the basic skills of understanding music and rhythm as it relates to dance.
Intermediate/ Advanced Jazz
Students will engage in jazz phrases and combinations applying them to well-known jazz standards and musicals. Students will also explore in choreography, presenting a final piece in the annual concert.
Mixed Levels Hip Hop
A high-energy class that introduces the latest moves in the hip hop dance world to “old school” dance moves that once set the stage for this dance form. Students will also learn basic techniques of break dance as it relates to hip-hop. Various music forms are introduced to the class allowing students to explore movement to different rhythms.
Afro-Fusion Dance
Mixed-level class. African dance is encouraged before taking this class. Students are introduced to African dance fused into other dance styles. Students will also be introduced to various music forms and rhythms as it relates to the dances presented.
Mixed Level African/Caribbean Dance Class
Students learn various styles and technique of West African/ African Diaspora dance. Students are also educated on history of dance style and meaning of each dance. Workshops are also planned for special guest to come and teach.
